If you’re anything like me you’ll love a good nose and a ”behind the scenes” so here I’m taking you on a ”Pre-Event” trip to the Electric Picnic HQ Stradbally. This is a sneak peak at how it’s currently looking. She’s shaping up nicely folks!
Tis a fine Umbrella tree if ever I seen one!
The Umbrella Tree makes a welcome return 🙂 What a glorious sight. I have to say the creativity of the people involved in making Electric Picnic so visually appealing is tremendous. Your eyes are finding lights, lanterns, colour, flags all sorts of gems swinging and hanging, suspending from all sorts of places. The little surprises you will discover throughout the grounds will have you giddy like a child at Christmas.
Festival workers busy at work!
The festival fairies busy attaching lanterns to some trees in their cherry-picker. To keep all the workers motivated throughout the day, Rage Against The Machine was being blasted all over the site! That’ll get you going alright!
It may not look like much now, but just you wait!
Casa Bacardi being built and ready to get a lick of paint. It’s fascinating to see all this going up knowing how special it will all turn out in just 3 days time.
Food vendors arriving in!
Burger Republic, Wokn Roll, The Best Hot Dog in the World, Angelo’s Pizza, Siam Restauraunt, The Charcol Grill and The Organic Kitchen will surely satisfy all the hungas out there, myself included! And that’s just for starters. A van just arrived claiming to sell ”The World’s Best Chicken Wings”, so if that’s what you’ve been searching for your whole life well you’re in luck! The variety of food is always spot on at Electric Picnic. Everyone from Vegan to all out meat eater is catered for. You’re looking at a tenner for a decent dinner. It’s tasty grub and I’ve always been happy with what I’ve gotten. Some may think it’s a little pricey but I have to say it’s good quality. And I think I’ve eaten from most vendors at this stage as the same generally return each year.
Looking a little cloudy but come Friday it’ll be sparkling!
This is the Main Arena by the way for anyone who hasn’t been before. The place looks so vacant right now but come Friday this will be a sea of colour and beauty!
Main stage having it’s final touches put in place.
Never been backstage? Well you’ve seen it now. You’re not missing much! Here it is in all its glory. I may hide under that scaffolding and see if I can have a sneaky look up George Ezras trousers!!!! (kidding not kidding).
She’s a beast! Can’t wait to see Ham Sandwich on here 6pm Friday to officially kick things off. Delighted they are opening up the festival. Such a talented Irish band. They are going to rock.
Electric Picnic banners added to the sides of the main stage.
Now if that doesn’t wet your whistle for Friday to arrive I don’t know what will. (Well maybe listening to some EP performers will!) But there you have it. Everything is getting ready for your arrival. So start organizing!
